(M.S.) Striking Waffen-SS Camouflage Helmet

This is a striking and very correct Waffen-SS M40 camouflage helmet by Quist. The shell size is 66 and the heat Lot number is N354. The helmet features a rough texture finish, on top of which is a three color sprayed camouflage finish in the Normandy assault scheme — that being ordinance tan, brick red and grass green. 60% of the Quist SS shield remains visible under the paint. The interior shows a lot of hard service use, and the strap and string are missing. The liner is fully intact but dry. No inscriptions are visible. An unusual feature is the red swastika drawn on the left side with the tip of a finger. It is blood red, but it is not blood, it is paint. Age cracking in it can be seen in the photograph of the swastika, indicating it has been on there a long time. I cannot conjecture why that swastika is there, other than to think it might be some GI art at the time of capture or at the end of the war. A helmet like this does not come along very often, especially one featuring this much camo on a nicely presented SS helmet. A striking and fine addition to your collection. COA accompanies.
