Allgemeine-SS ‘Droop Bill’ Parade Helmet
$12,500.00
This is a used but fine condition example of an early SS “droop bill” parade helmet. These helmets were commercially produced and procured, as the SS at that time had no access to the wehrmacht supply system. This particular type is called the “droop bill” by collectors because from the scallop forward, the visor of the helmet angles downward slightly. It has the rivets that indicate that it once had a commercial liner, but that has been period upgraded with a an M31 liner, single ply band, dated 1931. The liner and the liner band both have black paint on the edges, indicating the helmet was repainted black after the upgraded liner was installed. The second layer of black paint shows heavy brush marks and was done hastily but thoroughly. Both decals (Pochers of course)were left exposed, although the paint edged onto the borders of each decal, slightly. Overall, the condition shows substantial service use, but all components are solid and display very well. This is a chance to own one of the iconic early Allgemeine-SS black helmets at a reasonable price. COA accompanies.
