This incredible photo album is full of excellent, candid photographs of everyday life during the early phases of regiment ,,Germania”, in training, parades, and also some combat of the early war period. There are literally pictures of Hitler that are not published anywhere from angles off to the side, or other vantage points that indicate taken from a soldier in the formation, with his own camera–or a relative of the soldier who attended the ceremonies. While a couple of the photos are re-glued on, they are original to the album, which is a common type of ss photo album, commemorating the soldier’s time in service. The soldier did not caption the photos, but they are original, and they are original to the book. I’ve handled this photo album in years past and know it very well. I recall 1 or 2 pictures appear to have been reattached, as they must have come loose. Some of the photos appear ‘stock,’ yet on examination are original, candid shots from fairly famous ceremonial activities and parades. Some of these photos have appeared in books. Obviously the photo album has been around some time, and I know personally some people who have used the photos to publish in books. The uniform pictures are exquisite, showing many different ways the equipment and uniforms are in use. A great album for the collection and enhancement of historical knowledge. COA accompanies.
