Hardcore Waffen-SS Combat M35 Helmet

This Q66 M35 helmet has seen extensive service use and shows the hard effects of wear. The heat lot number is 3?00. The heavily worn liner shows no size mark. By the stretch of the shell and features of the vent holes, I assess this to be a Q64. The exterior has at least two coats of combat finish, the outermost being a smooth dark gray, most likely vehicle paint, which would date the helmet’s combat life to have begun in the early war era. The helmet features a runic shield placed lower down, with heavy patina and some evidence of period retouch. The pictures show the condition very clearly. The left side shows a small but bright bit of red peeking out from a flake in the paint– the remnants of the party shield on close examination. The liner shows hard use and age, but is mainly intact and could use a string. The strap has fallen away. The previous owner discovered this helmet locally at a sale some years ago. Overall a very cool, salty and “been there” Waffen-SS combat example. COA accompanies.
