Historic Visor Cap Attributed to Sicherheitsdienst NCO

$6,650.00

This is a very cool and historic SS NCO visor from a collector in the Nordics who obtained this cap in a split up of a few items from a locally famous SD official who served in a small Norwegian town. His name was Willi Rutten (pictured in uniform and after capture), and evidently at the end of the war he was not convicted of war crimes and was essentially let go. His cap (ostensibly the one in the wartime picture) has survived in less than optimal shape over the years, but still has a lot potential to be re-shaped and re-badged. The base material is a fine gabardine upper and badgecloth band, with wool piping. Aside from the flattening and a portion of the ersatz sweatband missing, there is no material damage. The cap could be conserved; re-shaped and the visor re-attached, which will improve it and give it more longevity. Insignia are available and it is possible to discern the type Rutten had on his cap in the photo (Zimmermann?). Given the history of the piece and association to the owner, it is reasonably valued and comes with full COA.
