Here is an example only a very few SS insignia collectors have had the privilege of owning during their career; an officer’s bullion embroidered SS-Totenkopfverbände cufftitle. This title is tunic removed and is the entire length it was worn at, showing the joins (one slightly frayed) at each end. This example is hand rendered in Gothic (Fraktur) script, signifying the 1937 configuration that according to Mollo, vol.4, was the official pattern for all members of the SS-TV. The finely embroidered lettering is backed with the expected dark blue-black gossamer backing, which is fully intact. The overall condition is very good, with a few snags that likely happened when it was removed–certainly not with care, suggesting a period souvenir of the Dachau liberation perhaps? An incredibly historic piece regardless, and a capstone for the finest SS insignia collection. Examples of this title that have sold within the last decade have achieved extremely high prices.
