Sharp Waffen-SS NCO Tunic

$8,900.00

This tunic is an example of typical usage by the SS of a Heer M36 tunic, altered at the hem and lower pockets, and in this case- given a tailored collar in bottle green for an NCO. The pictures show the modifications and their stitching clearly. The collar tabs and tresse are perfectly applied and show the same light wear and mild age patina as the rest of the tunic. The BeVo sleeve eagle is machine installed on the left sleeve. The signal piped boards bear the same matching tresse as the collar.  For collectors, signal piping can often be under-rated, being regarded as “non-combat” or rear area. In fact, every reconnaissance unit screening the front and flanks during a fierce tank battle would have signalers right in the armored vehicle with them, or in their own command vehicle within the column. Every unit in the defense would have signalers installing their field phone lines, and maintaining their radio ops in the command post.  The Germans invented ‘airland battle’ and could not have accomplished it if all their communicators were in the rear area. So here is a great NCO example, tailored for ‘stay at home’ or special occasions, ready for a fine collection. COA accompanies.
