Sharp Waffen-SS Officer’s Tunic, Medical

This consignment piece is badged to the rank of “SS-Oberfeldarzt” and is made of high-quality, field-gray Italian gabardine wool. It features four pleated scalloped flap pockets with fold back French cuffs. The collar is made of green wool with a zigzag reinforced back. The tunic is fully lined with gray green rayon and it retains all of its original buttons. There is a faint sign of a previous tailor tag on the neck (removed long ago). The collar features on the right side a hand embroidered silver bullion runic tab, while the left side features an SS Obersturmbannführer tab. The shoulder boards are sewn-in examples with black wool underlay and are piped with cornflower blue rayon (Medical). The left sleeve features a beautiful example, although not perfectly preserved, of a hand-embroidered SS officer’s eagle made of silver aluminum wire on a black wool background. The collar tabs and sleeve eagle had been reattached to the tunic with period thread by previous owners. There are no holes or tears and the color is bright and vivid. A somewhat rare piece, priced appropriately. COA accompanies.
