Waffen-SS Totenkopf NCO Tunic

From the same collection is this substantially service used Totenkopf infantry NCO tunic, rank of SS-Hauptscharführer. The tunic features an M36 Heer base tunic, with no markings visible any longer. The tunic has repairs to the backs of the sleeves, but is free from holes or damage–just lacking any more nap to the wool. The collar is the bottle green badgecloth. The insigina consist of a nice set of TK later (1942-43 pattern) skull and rank tab, showing upgrade of rank litzen from ‘Oscha’ to ‘Hascha.’ The sleeve eagle matches the insignia in manufacture period. The tunic appears to have all period badging, based on careful scrutiny revealing the telltale characteristics of age and authenticity. There was never a heer eagle on the breast, but the SS sleeve eagle does show another older set of stitch holes where it was adjusted or replaced– which appears to be wartime done given the consistency of wear and patina. The boards are a nice earlier quality with the grey felt backing (mothed slightly but only underneath). They show the same wear as the rest of the tunic. The collar is nicely original badged — tabs done same time as the tresse, with signs of the upgrade of the insignia underneath. Again, all signs of old, period wear (fairly constant wear over a long period). There are signs of a cufftitle removed. Overall the tunic displays well, is a larger size, and shows loops for a combat veteran SS soldier. COA accompanies.
