Published Waffen-SS Reverse Decal M42 Double Decal

This is a service worn Waffen-SS foreign volunteer M42 double decal helmet, produced by EF. Collectors make no mistake, 2/3 of the Waffen-SS units fielded in combat were foreign volunteers. So this is a straight-up Waffen-SS double decal combat helmet in the same manner as Germanic ones. This helmet was published first in my 1998 book on SS helmets and was in the collection of the late Byron Vickery. The best available information on the history of these helmets is that they started out as SS police formations (schützmannschaften) that were later regularized into the Waffen-SS as they formed the later divisions such as the Ukrainian divisions, as well as Hungarian and Balkans ( see SS-Steel for period photos of these in use). These helmets, many produced by EF, were initially issued as police / einsatz DDs, and then re-badged with a CA Pocher SS shield on top of the police shield. The pictures reveal this nuance. The helmet, an EF64 M42, is in overall excellent service used condition, and is complete and untouched. A chance to own a one-of-a-kind, rare helmet. COA accompanies.
