This helmet is a German WWI model 1916 helmet, refurbished in the pre-world war II days as a transitional army helmet with Heer decal and m31 liner. The helmet is completely untouched woodwork helmet out of New Jersey. It shows many inscriptions in liner “To our boys back home -Bill” “England/France” and what appears to be a possible address, but is barely legible. The helmet still bears the string affixed after the war by the veteran. The helmet is in very good used/service condition with nice decal and field grey sandy finish. The original liner is dry but complete and untouched. Never in a collection transitional for consideration. COA accompanies.
