According to a Civil War collector acquaintance, this cap is a Union Army post-war reunion/ commemorative type of cap, that was issued to the regiments for wear at their gatherings. His assessment was that it is not a wartime cap, due to some of the materials used. While not mainstream for this website, it is hoped that the cap will get some attention from a CW collector, who can take it on from the collection of the fellow who passed it on.
