Rare, Cut-Off SS-Gebirgsjäger Regiment 12 “Michael Gaißmair” Cufftitle

$4,750.00

This combat used cufftitle is an incredible artifact of the 6th SS Gebirgs Division “Nord’s” 12th Regiment, “Michael Gaissmair.” (The cufftitle was brought back as part of the General’s hoard of insignia that are listed elsewhere in this section.) When stood up in 1944, the regiment’s first commander was Standartenführer Franz Schreiber. The regiment began as SS-Totenkopf-Standarte 7, Brünn, then was transferred to Norway and redesignated within the standard Waffen-SS infantry system. Later becoming part of the 6th SS-Gebirgsdivision “Nord”, the unit received the 12th regimental designation and given the title “Michael Gaiβmair.” The unit fought hard in the northern front, including “Operation Nordwind” then fought its way southward before surrendering in Bavaria.

The title is uniform worn, showing soiling and wear to the synthetic Bevo fabric. It was kept in a manila envelope by US General Logan, along with half a dozen cufftitles, collar insignia, and some documents relating to captured German Generals. A real piece of history–as well as a very rare cufftitle to collect. COA accompanies.
