This is a killer Waffen-SS single decal M42 camouflage helmet, which looks to be EF (via shape of shell) size 64, with indecipherable lot number. The helmet features a tan/green Mediterranean style finish, with ET pattern Runic shield peeking nicely through camo finish. The helmet does show signs of exterior oxidation and interior pitting, which reflects continuous use in a hot climate, such as italy (the LAH served in Italy, and the exact twin of this camouflage scheme in the form of an M35, belonging to an SS NCO named Erich Malke, is pictured in the Ludwig Baer book from the 1980s, as well as SS-Steel first edition. The photos show this exact same camouflage application and scheme–even featuring the same heavy drips and other rather hasty features of application. Malke was in the LAH.
