Fine Service Used Heer M35 Double Decal Helmet
$5,700.00
Double Heer M35s are getting scarcer, and this ET64 is a bit of a rarity in that it is an early production example. The heat lot number 3683 was produced during the time period of the single ply liner bands and brass liner retaining pins, which most often were replaced due to their propensity for shearing during training and combat operations. This helmet retains all three brass ones, even though the helmet shows a lot of service use. The single ply type liner band (dated 1937) was prone to breaking at the rivet points, either in the rear, or on the chinstrap lug fasten points. This one is missing one of the two rear joint rivets, likely a result of a hard landing in a foxhole or fighting position. Over time the stitching has come loose in the rear seam of the leather (size marked 56, with old style font markings underneath). The full chinstrap is hard to read, but appears to be dated 1938. The finish is a strong 88- 90% and the decals are in really fine shape. Overall, this piece presents very well and will make a striking addition to the M35 collection that’s missing one of these.
