This is an Imperial German period tropical helmet, made by the Americal firm Horstmann, Philadelphia (see link German Colonial Uniforms – Tropical Helmets) This helmet, a khaki version that replaced the white canvas models, would have been used by the German Schutztruppen in Africa from the early 1890s. Nice example for the collection, not badged, missing strap.
