This is a Killer early M35 Chickenwire helmet, consisting of an M35 ET(?) 64, with a rough texture overpaint finish, leaving the heer shield exposed, but covering the national colors shield. The latter shows through some paint flaking on and around it (see detailed closeups). The helmet retains its original issue M-31 liner system with the square chin strap bales — further indicating field re-paint, not full reissue. Moreover, the liner itself features the early single ply band, and the leather shows consistent, heavy period use, with no damage. The finishing touch is the chicken wire basket, creating provisions for camouflage. This full wire basket shows every indication of having been on the helmet since early war, with wear / use commonly seen on these examples. The shell looks to be a size 64, with both maker and lot number covered by the outer paint layer. Overall, a stunning, early M35 Chickenwire for your consideration. COA accompanies.
