I have handled this cap before and believe it to be fully original. It appears to be a somewhat field customized SS officer’s panzer M43 cap. This is due to the fact that the front closure has had its front buttons replaced with officer quality aluminum pebble buttons, fastened with split pin type rivets rather than stitching. The insignia are nicely attached. The skull shows some misalignment in the stitching, the eagle is perfect and also shows zig-zag application. In hand, the cap shows the same light wear throughout. While modified, it is an excellent example of this rare type of SS headgear. Accordingly, it is priced quite reasonably. COA accompanies.
