This appears to be an unissued item, consisting of a Japanese field cap with neck flap assembly. The cap has the manufacturer mark on the interior, giving it the date of manufacture of approximately 1937 (14th year of the emperor). The cap features the olive colored wool exterior with machine stitched yellow star insignia. It has the lace for size adjustment, and around the bottom edge, stitch loops to accommodate the light cotton neck flap with brass hooks. The leatherette chinstrap shows some age wear. Overall a superb example, great for the display.
